Nightwish, Sabaton, Delain
Scandinavia came to Dallas on Tuesday, May 5th, when Nightwish, Sabaton and Delain invaded The Bomb Factory. And by the turn out you would have thought it was a weekend. Devoted fans poured into the building, packing it to the brim and ready to rock hard despite it being in the middle of the week. Continue reading Nightwish, Sabaton, Delain
They Might Be Giants
They Might Be Giants spends an evening in Dallas
They Might Be Giants arrived at the Granada Theater in Dallas on Wednesday, May 13, to spend a casual evening with its fans. While the “An Evening with…” tag on the show was primarily to indicate that there was no opening band (or, as vocalist/rhythm guitarist John Flansburgh put it, “we’re opening for ourselves”), it also suggested the friendly, conversational approach the band took to the show. More than anything, it felt like a really big house concert. Topics of conversation between songs included why nobody really refers to this decade as the “teens,” the tragic burning of the original Big Tex, the fact that the date formed a palindrome (leading, of course, into “I Palindrome I”), and what the heck was going on in the murals on the walls of the Granada.

Hollywood Undead packs the house at Trees
Since their formation a decade ago, Hollywood Undead has built a devoted fanbase with their youth-oriented lyrics and rap-rock sound. Coming off an appearance at Rock in Rio USA two days prior, they returned to a more intimate setting Monday night, May 11, at Trees in Deep Ellum. The venue was packed with teens, branded with the underage “X” on each hand, as well as fans in their mid-20s, many of which have followed the band from the start.

Ministry bids farewell to Dallas at the Bomb Factory
It is fairly well known that Ministry will be calling it quits after the From Beer to Eternity Tour ends, as Al Jourgensen has stated he has no interest in continuing the band without his best friend, late guitarist Mike Scaccia. Given that this was likely the last Ministry show in Dallas, the crowd at the Bomb Factory on Sunday night, May 3rd, was surprisingly thin. The balcony remained closed, and the floor filled only to half capacity. The fans who did show up, though, were treated to a memorable show from Jourgensen and his crew, along with opening acts Avatar and The SixxiS.
